[edit] Cornwell
According to the Bernard Cornwell website - http://www.bernardcornwell.net/index.cfm?page=12 The story behind the film version of Sharpe's Gold - when they were filming it the actor who was first cast as Sharpe broke his leg. Filming had to stop while an insurance claim was made. Sean Bean then replaced the original actor, but the producers decided that if they re-shot the original script the insurance company would claim they had suffered no real loss. So that script was abandoned. Jooler 07:36, 25 April 2006 (UTC)
There are two separate re-enactment societies fighting for the spot on the external links section who have been having an edit war at one point 81.178.243.81 replace the rival web adress with www.growup.com and User:Samuel Blanning reverted to this version. Jooler 11:46, 9 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Relation to books
Would it be helpful to list the dates of the original book next to the film title?
Maybe turn the list of episodes into a table something like this:
Title | Location, Year | First Broadcast | Book written | Comments |
---|---|---|---|---|
Sharpe's Rifles | Portugal, 1809 | May 5, 1993 | 1988 | |
etc. | ||||
etc. | ||||
Sharpe's Challenge | India, 1817 | April 23 & 24, 2006 | 1998 & 1999 | Based on the novels Sharpe's Triumph and Sharpe's Fortress set in 1803 |
Can't get the borders to look right, but you get the idea.

[edit] Cleanup
Hi gang. It seems to me the Sharpe articles need a serious spring-clean. Here's some thoughts about where I think we should go with this and related articles:
- Finer definition between the books and television series. At the moment, the books don't even seem to have a main article (although they do have a category, oddly).
- Culling of cruft from the article. We can move lists like the episode one to separate articles quite easily, as is done on other wiki pages. The opening of the article needs to be cut down to essentials and the rest distributed into the various required subheadings.
- General extension of the article - the 'discrepancies' section is the biggest part in itself!
- Cutting down of redlinks.
Well, those are just a few suggestions. I'll be trying to tackle as many of these as possible by myself, but any help appreciated! Added the much-needed infobox prior to this. Palaeologus 02:04, 28 November 2006 (UTC)
- I've created Sharpe's Rifles (film) & Sharpe's Eagle (film) articles, and the Template:Sharpe Films template. Any suggestions appreciated! - Palaeologus 05:52, 29 November 2006 (UTC)
