Since you been gone, is a 1970s rock and roll song written and recorded by former Argent guitarist Russ Ballard for his 1976 album ‘Winning’ (Epic) and been also recorded by all-girl group Clout and covered by US band Head East. The most famous version is the 1979 cover by Rainbow which became a UK top ten single.
The chorus gives the song its title
- Since you been gone, since you been gone
- I'm outta my head, can't take it
- Could I be wrong, but since you been gone
- You cast the spell, so break it
- Oooohhh - Whhooooaaa - Ooooohhh
- Since you been gone
Besides the pounding 'pub rock' delivery, the Rainbow version is famous for a grunt/groan from the lead singer followed by an outrageous key-change preceeding the final reprise of the chorus (see [1] ).
