Smallpox blanket
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Smallpox blanket in colloquial speech is equivalent to a Trojan Horse. A smallpox blanket is an apparently benevolent offering whose real intent is to disrupt, destabilize or weaken.
[edit] Smallpox blanket conspiracy theories
There is evidence that blankets infected with smallpox may have deployed by British soldiers against Native Americans at the Siege of Fort Pitt, as a form of biological warfare.
Ward Churchill has alleged that the US Army gave smallpox infected blankets to the Mandan Indians in 1837. No historian specializing in that event has agreed wuith Churchill's accusations against the Army. Professor Thomas Brown alleged that Churchill's version of the event amounts to a conspiracy theory. The University of Colorado recommended Churchill's dismissal for research misconduct as a consequence.<http://www.plagiary.org/smallpox-blankets.pdf>
