Soli Deo Gloria (label)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Soli Deo Gloria is a production label associated with recordings made by the Monteverdi Choir, the Orchestra, and Sir John Eliot Gardiner, founded in 2004. According to its website [1], its name is drawn from the initials that Johann Sebastian Bach appended at the end of each of his Cantatas scores, dedicating them to the "glory of God alone".
The label has committed to releasing 51 CDs, each corresponding to one of the Bach Cantata Pilgrimage's concerts. Since its creation, the label has also published parallel endeavours of Gardiner and his forces, such as his Pilgrimage to Santiago CD, recorded after a 2004 tour following the Camino de Santiago.
