Sordini is the italian word for mute, commonly used in music.

It is commonly seen in the Italian phrase con sordini, which means "with mute". Senza sordini, conversely, means "without mute". Also used is sordini altazi and sordini levati, which both mean lift mute.
The word's origin comes from the words sorda, sordo, and sordamente, all of which mean "Dull in tone, muffled".
Other names include sordina, and sordino.
