I am submitting the following "Notable Figures" for Southbridge, MA. I was surprised to find only one name in this category. These three people are legend in Southbridge but I corroborated the facts on the Internet. Hope this is adequate! If you require dates, etc., please let me know & I will provide.
George Angell - Founder of the MSPCA, the first animal-protection group in the country. Angell Animal Medical Centers are named after him. Born in Southbridge, MA. A plaque honoring him is at corner of Elm & Main Streets in Southbridge. Internet information provided by MSPCA.
William Learned Marcy - Senator and Governor of New York, Secretary of War and Secretary of State. Born in Southbridge, MA. The street where he was born is named Marcy Street and formerly a school was named after him. Internet information provided by Biographical Directory of U.S. Congress.
