Specials is the third novel in the Uglies trilogy. Written by Scott Westerfeld, it continues the story of protagonist Tally Youngblood. Tally begins the story as a Special, a member of her city's government, Special Circumstances. Specials, by means of surgery, have ceramic bones, microfilament muscles, and perfect vision, as well as self-healing capacities via nanobots in their bodies. Tally is specifically part of the Cutters, a young, elite group of Specials.
In a January entry in the author's blog, Scott Westerfeld revealed that in October 2007 a fourth book, Extras, will be released.
