"Spotlight" is a 1988 single by pop singer Madonna on her 1987 remix album You Can Dance. The song was only released in Japan as a commercial single on 7" vinyl single and 3" CD, though there is a rare promotional copy on 7" vinyl in Spain. "Spotlight" was originally recorded for Madonna's 1986 album True Blue, but ultimately failed to make the cut. Despite there being no video to promote it, the song managed to climb to #3 on the Japanese charts.
The reason that is believed why the single wasn't released in the U.S. is because her label didn't want to break the streak of top ten hits, they feared it wouldn't do well since it was a cut that didn't even make the True Blue album.
