Spreadshirt.com is the North American version of Spreadshirt.net, an apparel company that allows people to design, buy and sell custom merchandise on the Web.

Founded in Leipzig, Germany in 2002 by German graduate students Lukasz Gadowski and Matthias Spiess, Spreadshirt became the leading provider of custom, online apparel in Europe and is considered one of its most successful Internet start-ups. In 2004, just two years after launching in Germany, Spreadshirt.com was launched for the North American market.
Spreadshirt.com made an immediate impact in the United States and has since grown to a community of over 150,000 partners who have created and sold over 500,000 custom products worldwide.
Spreadshirt's US operations include a fulfillment and customer service center in Greensburg, PA and is headquartered in downtown Pittsburgh, PA.
Spreadshirt.com key management figures are CEO Jana Eggers (Blog) and COO Carsten Petzold.
[edit] Livejournal Advertisement Controversy
Spreadshirt is also one of the first four companies to pay for a Sponsored Community on Livejournal in addition to banner advertising the other four companies were Amp'd Mobile, Nissan, and Time Warner. [1][2] As with many of Livejournal's new policies regarding advertising, the Spreadshirt Sponsored Community is a somewhat controversial topic among users. [3]
Spreadshirt was commended by the LiveJournal community members for using non-offensive advertising tactics. The company is no longer paying to maintain sponosored community with LiveJournal.
