Stellaluna

Stellaluna is a fictional female fruit bat in a children's book of the same name by author Jannell Cannon, written in 1994.
[edit] Plot
The plot is that a baby bat, Stellaluna, is separated from her mother during an owl attack. Falling down a tree, she lands in a bird's nest, and is forced to adapt to living as birds do. This, though may sound easy at first, was far from what it seemed. Stellaluna had to learn to eat and enjoy insects, learning how to fly as birds do(being pushed out of the nest), learn to sleep upright, and often questioned about the lack of feathers, amongst other things.
When she finally learns how to fly she goes out to search for her mom. When she stops to rest she comes face-to-face with another bat(quite literally, as she stood upright, as opposed to upside down as normal bats) who questioned her about her uncanny ability to stand upright (also referring to her being "upside down"). Stellaluna was also introduced to fruit which, unlike bugs, she instantly loved. Stellaluna was then reunited with her mother in the conclusion.
