[edit] Dual Internationals
As far as I know the way the names are listed in the category is determined by the way in which the category is added to the individual article... So - "Category:Dual code rugby internationals|Price, Ray (rugby league footballer)" would list Ray Price under 'P' for Price. I think this is the way you should proceed in terms of this category. I imagine it would require changing all the pages unless there is some automatic way of doing it that I don't yet know about! -- User:CumberlandsAshes81 12 September 2006
Here is a list of DIs I found in the "Australian Sporting Records" 1988 edition. No idea if it's complete, of and course doesn't include any since 1988. [1] --Angry mob mulls options 12:56, 24 October 2006 (UTC)
Bah. If I'd looked here first, I would've seen this (from the 2005 Rugby League Annual) -- it's reasonable to assume that this *is* definitive. --Angry mob mulls options 13:10, 24 October 2006 (UTC)
Arthur Anlezark - The 2005 Annual elsewhere calls him Ernest, another book I have says A.E.Anlezark, so I guess Arthur Ernest was his name. From Lismore, played on the 1909 Roo Tour. No first grade games in the NSWRL. --Angry mob mulls options 14:45, 24 October 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Duplicate articles
With Kevin Ryan, I simply made Kevin Ryan (footballer) a redirect to Kevin Ryan (rugby league footballer). You do this by replacing all the content on the page with this code:
#REDIRECT [[Kevin Ryan (rugby league footballer)]]
To sort out John Sutton you'll need to merge the two articles, just move thie stuff on one that isn't on the other over to the other, then make the first one a redirect. Geddit? I'd go with having the article at simply John Sutton, it's an easier name. Finally for deleting Cyril Abotomy, it needs listed at Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion. Grinner 17:50, 24 October 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Cyril Abotomey
Hey mate, the correct time period was 1923-34. The article is totally factual.
If you own any Rugby league encyclopedia's look it up. I would guess he was (more than likely) a bit-time player and spent a lot of time in lower grades or he was very injury prone. Tiburon 02:43, 11 December 2006 (UTC)
[edit] WPRL Article Improvement Drive
Hey I've noticed you're a regular on rugby league articles, particulary NRL ones. I need your advice on something I'm thinking of starting up on the project. Many WikiProjects have Article Improvement Drives which have different levels of success. I'm thinking of starting one up for this one too, but instead of voting on an article I would rather strive to improve one NRL club every fortnight and bring it up very close to featured status. Now it seems as though there'd be a lot of work involved, but there are also a lot of club fans out there who'd probably be willing to participate. Basically there are 30 weeks in the NRL season and there are 15 club pages that are not yet featured. I propose that we all have a schedule to work on one new article every second round, in alphabetical order. By the end of the season hopefully we will have 15 near-complete, if not complete articles. My only concern at this stage is the dedication of editors to help out other team pages that they are not interested in. Basically in order to get the support of editors like these, we need a few leaders in the project. If you are willing to dedicate a bit of your time every week into this and if you have any further suggestions, could you let me know at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Rugby league/Article improvement drive? Thanks, --05:57, 20 February 2007 (UTC)
- At this stage I'm thinking we'll do articles only for existing clubs. So yes, South Sydney will be the first page we'll tidy up (and to be honest I've already done a bit of work on it myself). I guess that will leave the Gold Coast Titans last, which makes sense, because then we'll at least have a proper history section to work on. Looking forward to seeing how this goes. Cheers, --mdmanser 14:53, 20 February 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Darrel Chapman
This fine footballer, teacher and academic who died tragically early deserves an article. I can write it but do you have any info? I have approached SCU where he was working when he died for additional info. Thanks Albatross2147 03:03, 9 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] 3 Rabbitohs
Hey Satts Greg Hawick, Chick Cowie and George Treweek figure in the 04 Dream Team but have no linked articles. I'm thinking this is a gap on the main club article. Do you have any inf on these players & I'll start a stub on each.Sticks66 06:21, 25 March 2007 (UTC)

Sattlersjaw 10:14, 25 March 2007 (UTC) Hey Satts, thanks for the info but then you went & beat me to it. Well done. I've linked all Dream Team players to that Article on the Souths Website. It seems that Bob Grant also doesn't have an article. Do you have anything on him ? Sticks66 12:54, 26 March 2007 (UTC)
- I've fixed the link and put some info up for Bob Grant.

[edit] Headings
I have just looked over your article Paul Sait, which looks quite well done for a fairly seasoned player with an excellent record. Obviously it could be improved by a photo of him taken during his career, but that might be hard to get hold of legitimately. Please reveiew WP:MSH, in particular section heading should use the same capitalisation as article headings: first word and proper nouns are upper case, everything else lower case. Garrie 22:42, 28 March 2007 (UTC)
(from my talk page)
- Thx for the comments. I'm not big on photos, seems to me that editors who add them then spend time & energy justifying legit use & defending them from deletion. I'll leave that to others. My out-take from reading WP:MSH and your comments is that my section header "Club Career" should be "Club career". Are you saying more than that ? Sticks66 04:03, 29 March 2007 (UTC)
I agree, arguing the toss over photos is best left to others. Some of us know people with their own match photos though and anything you took yourself is yours to contribute if you so wish. Yes, "Club career" and similar for other section headings with more than one word. Some people want the section, paragraph and line number others want plain english... ;) You seemed to have been consistent across several articles which is why I came here rather than just fixing it. But having said that, I can't find anywhere else I can fault your work! (I'm sure I looked first though...) So please, let me take my foot out of my mouth and appologise. Garrie 04:50, 29 March 2007 (UTC)
If you've been back to them and fixed the capitalisation, well done. It was a minor point but it's the minor points that make all the biographical articles belong in the same family (same for Rugby League articles). Garrie 23:12, 29 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Sub-pages
I had this all written out quite well and lost my edit... damn proxy server I guess. Anyway, it works like this:
Go to your user page User:Sticks666
Edit it
Create a link to a subpage (the subpage doesn't exist yet) such as User:Sticks666/Sandbox
-
- (note: it's a page in your user space - nobody else really cares what name you use, as long as it's not a banned name in which case you will find that out pretty quickly). A lot of people as you pointed out have them named for the project they are working on, and if you use them for drafts then there's nothing wrong with User:Sticks666/Articlename which makes it easy to move the subpage straight to Articlename. And to remember what the subpage is for when you fall off that bandwagon... ;)
Save your user page.
Your user page now has a redlink to User:Sticks666/Sandbox (or whatever). Click it and you will get to the edit screen for a page in user space which does not exist yet. That page has a blurb referring you to WP:SUBPAGES. When you need more information than what I have just given you, go and check it out.
PS. If you need more prompt assistance, put the {{helpme}} template on your talk page. Apparently it gets fairly prompt (<10 minutes) responses, from a group of people who have that template on a watch list or something. Garrie 23:12, 29 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Paul Gibson
As you may know the new NSW Minister for Sport has in the past claimed that he played grade for Manly Warringah in the 60s. Have you any information on this? Thanks
(BTW I am still getting info on Darrel C.) Albatross2147 04:43, 2 April 2007 (UTC)
