[edit] Fair use
This is not "fair use" of the image - see WP:Fair use counterexamples. We are not talking about the photograph (or photographer) - we are talking about the plane. Megapixie 00:26, 10 June 2006 (UTC)
However this image does work in that it:
- To illustrate the object in question
- Where no free equivalent is available or could be created that would adequately give the same information
- On the English-language Wikipedia, hosted on servers in the United States by the non-profit Wikimedia Foundation.

- No It's still not fair use. See WP:Fair use counterexamples 5 and 8 -
- 5. A photo from a press agency (e.g. Reuters, AP), not so famous as to be iconic, to illustrate an article on the subject of the photo. If photos are themselves newsworthy (e.g. Muhammad cartoons), low resolution versions of the photos may be fair use in related articles.
- 8. An image found on the Internet whose original source is unknown and that happens to contain the subject.
- The photo was taken by someone who intended to sell that photograph to make money. The photograph itself is not the subject of the article. It's not fair use. Megapixie 21:59, 19 June 2006 (UTC)
- Do you have any proof that this image was used to make money? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by David Foster (talk • contribs) .
- You have this the wrong way round - copyright is to be assumed per the Berne Convention for the Protection of Literary and Artistic Works and WP:Fairuse requires that you prove that the image doesn't inpinge on the rights of the person who made it. However, to answer your question, I seem to remember seeing the image in this book, although I don't have my copy to hand right now (it's in a box in a garage in another country).
