Sunil Shantha

Sunil Shantha (born April 14, 1915 – died April 11, 1981) was a renowned Sri Lankan singer. He was one of singers joined the “Radio Ceylon” when it’s beginning in 1949. He died due to heart attack soon after the death of his younger son.

He was born to a Roman Catholic family in Ja-ela north of Colombo close to the area of Negombo. His parents died when he was a child then his grandmother and one the uncle taken care of him and his sisters and brothers. He studied at Dehiyagaha government school, St.Benedict’s Colleague Kotahena and Mount Calvary Colleague Galle.
He is the greatest musician ever produced by Sri Lanka.
