Talk:Swanage Railway
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
According to J.H. Lucking, Railways of Dorset, the Swanage railway was ignored by the Beeching Report (More formally known as "The Reshaping of British Railways"). If this is correct the common assumption has been made that railways were only closed under the influence of this act. This remark should be replaced by one to the effect that the line closed despite not being mentioned in the Report since this sequence is still rare enough to be of interest. I do concur with your comments about this particular Branch line, and why it survived. I have therefore edited the text in the history section to enable the sequence of events leading up to the closure of this line to be documented. Aquizard 17:00, 5 December 2006 (UTC)
