Sweet as a nut
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Sweet as a nut is a commonly used analogy used in modern English vernacular to convey a welcome term of events, a fortuitous outcome, or to express accordance with a proposed course of action.
Nuts may not be considered sweet in these days of refined sugar additives, but the phrase is not ironic. In nature, honey is perhaps the sweetest thing, followed by berries and nuts, and it's from this fact that the expression is believed to arise.
"Sweet as", a contracted form, has the same meaning, and is used in New Zealand and the United Kingdom.
