Sy Kravitz

Sy Kravitz (December 10, 1924 - October 29, 2005) was an American filmmaker and retired NBC TV news producer of Ukrainian-Jewish heritage.
He was married to Bahamian American Roxie Roker from 1962 to 1985. Sy Kravitz and his wife gave birth to a famous rock musician, Lenny Kravitz. Lenny Kravitz, born in 1964, was named after his uncle, Pfc. Leonard Kravitz, who was killed in action in Korea while suppressing a Chinese attack and saving most of his platoon; he was posthumously awarded the Distinguished Service Cross.
Sy was a famous Hollywood producer and his environment of celebrities and up-and-coming stars was influential on his son's musical career. He died of leukemia when Lenny Kravitz was having his first concert in all-US tour of Aerosmith. The Let Love Rule singer paid tribute to his father in front of fans at a Mohegan Sun Casino Arena show in Connecticut on October 31, 2005.
