[edit] Biography
His diverse childhood, which eventually led to his trademark style and swagger, was a product of moving from continent to continent (including Africa, Europe, and N. America) He attended Florida A&M where he received two degrees, a masters in Biology and Secondary Education and an undergrad in Biology Pre-Med.[2]
[edit] Early Career
While the golden age of hip-hop exploded around him, Tabi and fellow rapper Haziq Ali combined efforts to form the group Organized Rhyme.[3] This eventually led to performing as the opening act for the likes of Outkast, LL Cool J, and Cam'ron. He also worked with Mike Carter to create the classic underground album "Bonney & Carter" which sparked the interest of other underground artists like Camp Lo and Dead Prez.
[edit] Indie Career
His first solo album, "A Fly Guy's Theme," was released in 2006 and took the DC/Metro area by storm. His single "The Pocket" was highly requested and a regular play on DC radio stations 93.9 and 95.5. The single is a brief introduction to DC's unique slang and swagger. The album boasts producers like Cosmo Barron, The JUSTICE League, SuperVillan Beats (Akon's official DJ), Moodswing and The Gotan Project It also features artists Raheem Devaughn, Haziq Ali, Mike Carter, Shydi, and DJ Flexx.[4] Fans compare Tabi's album to early Q-Tip with a cooler, mellow flow containing profound lyrics comparable to Kanye West.
[edit] Clothing Line
His clothing line, Bonney Runway, is influnced by European streetwear and is meant to break up the monotony of the typical hip-hop dress code. The casual, yet fashionable clothing line can be found in stores in Miami, D.C, N.Y. and London.[5]
