Taj Burrow

Taj Burrow is a well-know Australian surfer, born June 2, 1978 in Western Australia at Yallingup to Vance and Nancy Burrow. He began surfing at the age of seven in 1985 and discovered he was regular footed. He began to become better and win contests several years later, becoming recognized as a grom. He went professional in 1998, and has since been recognized as one of the best surfers in the world, even entering into the Australian Surfing Hall of Fame. He has not won a world title, thus, some say he is not the best surfer in the world, such being better than Kelly Slater, on paper, however some say he easily outmatches Kelly Slater and any other surfer in the world in creativity, mastering tricks including airs, 360s, and even 540s. He was born in Busselton, Australia, however, he now resides in Douarnenez, France in the meantime when not traveling the world. He has written a book (Taj Burrows book of Hot surfing) and has produced and partaken in his own surf videos such as Taj Burrow's Fair Bits. He is said to be one of the most advanced surfers that has not won a world title. It has been rumored that Taj and Andy Irons are working on being able to do a backflip aerial. In a recent interview in spring 2006, Taj said his top goal was not to win a world title but to further himself and the surfing world. What a legend.
