[edit] Plot
The movie opens with two men on bicycles who get hit by a car in Texas. The man who was driving the car brings the men to his house, where his sons Elliot (Allred) and Eugene (Heyborne) are.
The two men sell pesticides. One is from New Jersey, and the other is from Idaho. The man from Idaho shows Eugene and Elliot a picture of his family. The man's sister, Natalie Harris (Everly) is in the picture. Elliot immediately falls in love with her.
At night, Elliot can't go to sleep because of Natalie. He wakes up Eugene and tells him that he is going to Idaho to see Natalie. Eugene tells him that he is crazy. However, Elliot manages to persuade Eugene to take him to Idaho. Elliot told Eugene that the drive is 2 hours long.
When the boys get to Idaho, they ring the doorbell of Natalie's home. Natalie's mother opens the door and says hello. Elliot quickly says "We are here!" in a bad foreign accent, posing as exchange students. Natalie's mom asks, "I beg your pardon?". Elliot asks if the woman is Mrs. Harris, and the woman says yes. "O.K., we are your exchange students!". Eugene and Elliot are welcomed with open arms, apparently the Harris family was waiting for exchange students to arrive.
The Harris family thinks that Elliot and Eugene, now known as Gustav and Gayzah respectively, are Hungarian. However, Natalie, the one the boys drove 1700 miles to see, is not home. The mother tells the boys that she will be back on Thursday (it is Saturday) because she is at a Sports Camp in Miami, Florida.
Until Natalie gets back early on Wednesday night, the boys have trouble fitting in and adjusting to the new culture. When Natalie finally does get home, she doesn't think much of the boys.
Natalie eventually grows to like Elliot, and Eugene tries to woo his own girls. Natalie and Elliot do not want to be separated.
Elliot's crush gets involved in a criminal act and gets the boys and their friends in trouble. The boys confess to not be what they have been posing as. They are forgiven and both boys find a girl they like, including Natalie.
