Telecom Egypt

Telecom Egypt or Telecom Egypt SAE (TE) (LSE: TEEG), is Egypt’s main Telephone company. It started in 1854 with the first telegraph line in Egypt. In 1998 it replaced the former Arab Republic of Egypt National Telecommunication Organization (ARENTO).
The company has a fixed line subscriber base in excess of 9 million subscribers, which makes it the largest fixed line provider in the Middle East and Africa.
Telecom Egypt established TEData late 2001 to act as its data communications and Internet arm. The company has another IT arm, Xceedcc - Xceed contact center - located in Egypt's Smart Village. Telecom Egypt’s shares and GDRs (Ticker: ETEL.CA; TEEG.LN) are traded on the Cairo and Alexandria Stock Exchanges and the London Stock Exchange. Telecom Egypt also owns 45% of Vodafone Egypt.
