Temiskaming Shores, Ontario (2006 population 10,732) is a city in Northeastern Ontario, Canada. It was created by the amalgamation of the Town of New Liskeard, the Town of Haileybury, and the Township of Dymond in 2004. It is located along the southern edge of the Clay Belt area, near the Quebec border on the shores of Lake Timiskaming. The city had a total population of 10,732 in the Canada 2006 Census. Haileybury is the seat of Timiskaming District.

[edit] History of Haileybury
Haileybury is the southern-most region, district, or borough of Temiskaming Shores and has a population of approximately 4,500.
- 1889 - Settled by Charles Cobbold Farr. The town was named for his former school in England.
- 1904 - Haileybury incorporated as a town with Farr as mayor.
- 1909 - The Haileybury Hockey Club plays its first and only season in the NHA. The club was taken over and moved by Montreal's Club Antique-Canadien for the following season and became the Montreal Canadiens.
- 1910 - 7 year-old Leslie McFarlane, first author of the Hardy Boys series of books, moves to Haileybury. He lived there until 1920, and again from 1927-1936. He wrote 10 Hardy Boys books while living in Haileybury.
- 1922 - Great Fire of 1922 (October 4th)
- 1971 - Haileybury annexes North Cobalt

New Liskeard is the central region/district/borough of Temiskaming Shores and has a population of approximately 4,800.
- 1891 - First settled by Europeans (The settlement of the indigenous First Nations people had already been abandoned)
- 1922 - Great Fire of 1922 (October 4th)

Dymond Township is the northern-most region, district, or borough of Temiskaming Shores. It contains most of the large commercial enterprises (such as Walmart and a line of fast food restaurants) and the city's single shopping mall.

- Cobalt, Ontario (population 1,200) - With Haileybury and New Liskeard it was considered as one of the members of the unofficial conglomerate known as the Tri-Towns. Cobalt was originally proposed to be included in the amalgamated city, however they rejected the plan.
