Beach Head II: The Dictator Strikes Back
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Beach Head II: The Dictator Strikes back is a sequel to the first game Beachhead, developed and published by Access Software in 1985. It was designed by Bruce Carver and his brother Roger for the Commodore 64.
It featured the player going after the Dictator in several ways. There are four levels in the game, the first level is called Attack, where you deploy soldiers along a path with walls to cover you from the dictator's gun, and you either have to get by him or destroy the gun. The second level involves rescuing the prisoners from all the deadly obstacles by clearing them with a gun. The third level is escaping the area by flying a helicopter through an area to get the prisoners out of the dictator's fortress. Finally you and the dictator are on different cliffs, separated by water, the only way to defeat him is by getting him to fall in the water by throwing knifes at him before he makes you fall first.
This game was notable for using synthesized speech (courtesy of electronic speech systems of Berkley, California). Known for it's deathly scream (also heard in Epyx's Impossible Mission), laughing, "I'm hit", "Medic", "Hey! Don't shoot me", and "You can't hurt me" in the game.
[edit] Trivia
- The spelling of the game's name varies - the title screen spells it "Beach Head", while the box said "Beach-Head". Ironically, the prequel's title screen had written "Beach-" and "head" in two separate lines, making the correct spelling impossible to deduct.
