The Academy of Irving ISD is a career oriented public high school in Irving, Texas. It differs from other high schools in that basic career skills are taught beginning at the 9th grade level (6 different broad career cluster options offered) among other common subjects, these career studies advance as the student progresses and branches out into more specific careers in that cluster. The Academy also does not have some fine arts programs such as band and theater arts and lacks an athletics department, although students may choose to be involved in these at any of the other three high school campuses, this is mainly due to the fact that The Academy was built largely for academic classes only and does not have any athletics facilities. Due to its proximity to North Lake College, many night classes are offered at The Academy for college students.

The Academy has an excellent fine arts department and is one of only two Irving schools to have a student receive a gold seal at the State VASE competition and also has won many awards in other local competitions. Media Tech and Advertising Design (both subcategories of the Visual Arts Department) have done well in SkillsUSA competitions as well as other contests.
