[edit] History
The Bobolink Encounter was essentially formed in 2001 by Jamie Cybulski and Ben Donnelly however at the time the band had no name. With Cybulski on drums and Donnelly on vocals the two recruited guitarist Jake Fraser to contribute his musicianship to their jam sessions. Nothing composed with Jake Fraser was ever played by the Bobolink Encounter except their smash hit "Elephants". Even "Elephants" varies from the version composed with Fraser.
In 2002 Jake Fraser died suddenly in his sleep. To compromise for the loss Jamie assumed the role of guitarist while Ben assumed the role of drummer. With their modified lineup the duo began searching for a band name. It is said that the name The Bobolink Encounter is a combination of randomly chosen words from a dictionary. Other possible band names included Zen Jive (which became a song title) and Baptized Honey (which became the name of their first tour).
As Cybulski and Donnelly began to write more and more material they began to search for their signature sound by experimenting musically. One such experiment was the hiring of professional harmonica-player Jeff Collin. Although band-mates say the union was productive, Collin was fired from the band on good terms.
In 2005 while looking for fuller sound, Jamie and Ben began negotiating with bassist Adam Slight (Previously of Amazing Electricity Awesome) to play for the band. Slight accepted happily and a renaissance of song-writing was underway. After the band was comfortable with a setlist it began The Baptized Honey Tour which lasted two months and saw several venue and a strong support.
Following the success of The Baptized Honey Tour the band entered the studio recording its debut album It's Pronounced 'Bobo'. The album was a hit with three songs featured on the radio: "Patty Watters", "We Are The Bobolink Encounter" and "Catholic Education".
Currently the band is said to have material prepared for a second album however they have yet to enter the studio to record.
[edit] Albums
"It's Pronounced 'Bobo'" is the band's first complete album succeeding their EP Emotive Embrace. The title It's Pronounced "Bobo" refers to the common mispronounciation of the band's name in reference to the bird the bobolink.

[edit] Trivia
- Since the band's formation the group has always reserved Pat Watters as band-manager. The song "Patty Watters" is a tribute to him. - The guitar solo in "Elephants" is renowned as Jamie has yet to play it without making the same mistake. - The original bootleg recording of "Emotive Embrace" featured a drum track for the rap segment from an old child's synthesizer. After Adam joined the band the track was replaced by him beat-boxing
