[edit] Plot
The Client begins with the suicide of Jerome Clifford - lawyer for Barry "the Blade" Muldanno - attempts to commit suicide in the woods. He is spotted by the eleven-year old Mark Sway and his younger brother. Clifford pulls a hose from the exhaust into the car. Mark tries to stop him but Clifford gets aggravated and hauls him into the car with him. He then tells him why he wants to kill himself and reveals where the body of the murdered US Senator Boyd Boyette was buried. Mark manages to escape and Clifford chases him through the woods and then shoots himself.
Upon seeing the suicide, Ricky, Mark Sway's younger brother, goes into shock. Mark calls the police and is later found at the scene. Police and the FBI discover that Mark was in the car and may have spoken with Jerome Clifford. Clifford knew where the body was buried and the FBI needs this information. The FBI is now after Mark Sway because they believe he knows where the body is. Mark hires a lawyer named Reggie Love to help him. Mark is reluctant to tell the FBI what he knows because the mafia has threatened him not to tell a soul where the body of the Senator is buried.
Mark decides to look for the body. If the bodies isn't where he knows it should be, he's no longer in danger of the mafia. He decides to travel to New Orleans and search for it with Reggie. But once there, they meet the mafia who wants to move body. The mafia discovered there presence and tries to kill them. Once again they escape. He decides to tell the FBI where the body is and gets witness protection for himself, Ricky and their mother Diana.
