The GTOs
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The GTO's is a "groupie group" that consisted of Miss Pamela, Miss Sparky, Miss Lucy, Miss Christine, Miss Sandra, Miss Mercy and Miss Cynderella. The group hailed from the area around Los Angeles in the late 1960s. GTO is an acronym for the full band name "Girls Together Outrageously". Their only album, Permanent Damage, was produced in 1969 by Frank Zappa and Lowell George (track 7 and 11). The songs are mixed in with conversations had between the members of the group, friends, and others, including Cynthia Plaster Caster and Rodney Bingenheimer. The most famous of the GTOs is Miss Pamela, or Pamela Des Barres, author of the groupie-memoir I'm With The Band. The album features songwriting contributions from Lowell George, Jeff Beck and Davy Jones. Miss Christine dated musicians such as Alice Cooper and Todd Rundgren. She designed a lot of Alice's outfits and make up. She also appears in Todd Rundgren's Runt album as "Miss Christine with pig". She died of a drug overdose under suspicious details.
