[edit] Plot
The official plot has not yet been revealed. Long-standing rumors about Ariel's mother's appearance have been confirmed. Other rumors stated that the story would have Ariel telling her daughter, Melody, about her past--the rivalry between King Triton, Ursula, Morgana, why Morgana hated Ursula, what happened to her mother, etc. But these rumors proved to be false once. Tara Strong said she would not reprise her role as Melody, but would voice various others. Many fans hope that even without Ariel's daughter, this plot will still be used, especially since Sally Field has been confirmed to play Ariel's mother.
