The PARED Foundation
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The PARED (or Parents for Education) Foundation manages several schools in Sydney Australia. PARED was founded in 1982 by parents who wanted to emphasise the role of parents as the prime educator in the life of the child. One of the main ways of parent/teacher/student communication is through the tutorial system. Each student is alloted a tutor who meets the student reguarly (ideally fortnightly) to check on the students advancement academically, socially, spiritualy etc. The tutor meets with the students teachers regurly (in teacher tutor's) and with the students parents about every term. If the parent has anything particular to say to the tutor they may request a meeting at any time. Key Parent Functions (or KPF's)are another way of allowing the prents to become more involved in the students education

[edit] Relationship with Opus Dei
Despite popular myths, The PARED Foundation is an independent body and has no formal relationship with the Opus Dei Prelature. At the request of PARED, Opus Dei provides the religious education and the chaplaincy of the PARED schools. The schools were however, strongly inspired by the teachings of St Josemaria Escriva, the founder of Opus Dei. [2]
