- 30 August 1988: Gerard Harte (29), Martin Harte (21) and Brian Mullin (26), all Catholic members of the Provisional Irish Republican Army (IRA), were shot and killed by undercover British Army members, while approaching an abandoned lorry at Drumnakilly, near Carrickmore. Their death is commemorated in the song Ambush At Drumnakilly.
