The Waterways Journal Weekly
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Waterways Journal Weekly is the news journal of record for the inland waterways of the United States, chiefly the watershed of the Mississippi River and its tributaries.
The periodical is published in St. Louis, Missouri. According to the weekly's masthead, it has been in publication since 1887.
Editorials in the journal often discuss government regulation as it relates to the rivers and those who use the river for transport.
A river-history feature called the Old Boat Column runs each week, and is generally placed on the third to last page. Presently edited by Capt. Alan L. Bates, the Old Boat Column is of particular interest to nonspecialist readers with a general interest in the history of the inland waterways, while the news articles in the rest of the publication provide a window into the people and technology behind a thriving major sector of industrial transport in the United States.
