The tear of Venus is very common in the Brazilian Rainforest. It proliferates in moist conditions, beside rivers and lakes. The intensely perfumed flowers resemble white dresses. The oil is obtained from the pistil and petals, and is often used to form part of medicinal compunds which may provide benefit to those suffering from respiratory conditions, pulmonary infections, sinusitis, bronchitis, etc. It is thought that the oil posseses aphrodisiac qualities, stimulates blood circulation, and can be beneficial in the analgesia of muscular pains and articulations.
