Dr. Thomas Okarma is the current CEO of Geron Corporation, a biotechnology company.

Dr. Okarma earned his undergraduate degree from Dartmouth College and his Master's & Ph.D. from Stanford University.
[edit] Previous Work
Dr. Okarma worked at the Stanford University School of Medicine as a faculty member from 1980 until 1985. He left the university to become the scientific founder of Applied Immune Sciences. He worked as the Vice President of Research and Development and later as the CEO until the company was acquired by Rhone-Poulenc Rorer.

Okarma joined Geron Corporation in 1997, serving initially as Vice President of Cell Therapies, and later as Vice President of Research and Development. When founder and CEO Dr. Michael West left the to company to start Advanced Cell Technology in 1999 Dr. Okarma was promoted to CEO, a position that he continues to hold seven years later.
