Thomas "Tom" Lester (b. September 23, 1938, Jackson, Mississippi) is an American actor and evangelist.
He is best-known for his role as Eddie Albert's and Eva Gabor's outrageous farmhand, Eb Dawson in the television series Green Acres and starred in the movie Gordy. Lester did a play with CBS producer Paul Henning's daughter Linda Kaye, (Betty Jo of "Petticoat Junction") in the 1960s, and soon found himself auditioning for the "Eb" role.
He is among a string of performers with a ministry/outreach background. Lester was last seen in the movie "Gordy", which featured a pig.
Involved in the preservation of family farms throughout the United States, he now lives at his ranch in Laurel, Mississippi.
Since the 26 May 2005 death of actor Eddie Albert (who died at age 99, two months after the death of "Green Acres" creator Paul Henning), Lester is one of four surviving "Green Acres" cast members; the rest are: Frank Cady, Sid Melton and Mary Grace Canfield. Though he knew of his co-star's death, Lester is the only "Green Acres" actor who did not attend Albert's funeral in May of the same year.
