Tom Rees (rugby player)

Thomas Rees (born 11 September 1984 in London) is a rugby union footballer who plays flanker for London Wasps and has represented England at U16, U18, U19, U21 and sevens.
Rees started rugby at Harriet Costello Secondary School in 1996 where he got introduced to rugby, he also joined the youth team at Basingstoke RFC the following year. Under the guidance of Andy Bloodworth and Dave Luff, Rees flourished at the sport initially playing in the centre before eventually specialising at 7. Rees's first real taste of Rugby was when he was selected for England U16's where he was awarded player of the year and then got offered to go many Rugby grammar schools and settled at RGS High Wycombe. Rees went on to play for England U18's in lower sixth and then U19's in upper sixth being the first choice 7 in both sides. Rees then went on to sign for London Wasps on a academy contract. Then after two years and just breaking into the first team at wasps he was offered a first team contact and has just resigned on a 2 year deal. Rees had a string of injuries during the 05/06 season but has since then come through those and after many sizzling performances at Wasps he was granted his place in the full England squad after repersenting England at all age groups possible.
Rees captained the England U21 side in the Six Nations Championship but was not selected for the elite England squad for the 2005 autumn internationals due to a knee injury sustained during the 2005 Zurich Premiership semi-finals.
Rees made his full England national rugby union team debut on 3rd February 2007 against Scotland after coming on as a substitute for Joe Worsley. To date Rees has won 5 England caps. Rees started his first game in the 26-18 victory against France on the 11th March 2007 and was awarded the RBS Man of The Match Award by Brian Moore. Rees also started the next game against Wales.
