Treasure in the Royal Tower is a computer game which was based loosely on a book of the same name. The book is part of a popular mystery series, created in 1930 by Edward Stratemeyer. The heroine of the books, as well as the computer game, is named Nancy Drew. Shares the title and is based on book # 128 in the Nancy Drew Mystery Stories series.

The player takes the role of Nancy Drew, who is snowed-in at a historical castle located in Wisconsin. The object of the game is to find Marie Antoinette's treasure which has been lost for centuries. Nancy Drew is not the only one looking for the treasure. There are many dead ends and snowy paths to mislead the player.

Nancy Drew - Smart, friendly, polite, and clever, Nancy's objective is to find the treasure before someone else does. This game gives you the chance to step into her shoes and solve the mystery as though you were her. The only bummer is that you never get to see what she looks like. Start the the imagination.
Dexter Egan - Dexter was adopted by the castle's creator, Ezra Wickford, when he was a child. Nancy soon discovers that this grumpy caretaker has a secret to hide. He also make you work for no pay.
Professor Beatrice Hotchkiss - Professor Hotchkiss is always in her room, typing and talking to herself. Her favorite color is purple, and she is very interested in Marie Antoinette, writing theories and books praising Marie. She gets even weirder when she orders fifty chicken drumsticks.
Lisa Ostrum - Lisa is a photojournalist interested in odd castles. She seems friendly enough to Nancy.
Jacques Brunais - Jacques is a skier formerly in the Winter Olympics, in which he fell. All the girls think Jacques is handsome, while Jacques is also interested in painting boxes when he is not skiing. Bess mentions that his french accent "should be illegal".
