Trends in Biotechnology
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Trends in Biotechnology (ISSN 0167-7799) is a monthly review journal that is one of fourteen Trends titles in the life sciences published by Elsevier. Trends in Biotechnology is aimed at those working in biotechnology or in related specialist areas and provides an instant overview of current thinking for students, academics, people working in industry and applied scientists who want to keep abreast of the latest developments in the field.
Launched in 1983, the magazine style of Trends in Biotechnology – short articles on topical advances – was unique among biotechnology journals of the time. It rapidly gained popularity and remains among the most highly cited journals within the field of biotechnology.
The format of the journal consists of two main article types: mini-review style Reviews, and Opinion articles, which are the same length as the Reviews, but with greater scope for hypothesis and personal perspective. Both article types are written in an accessible style by leading researchers, and aim to cover advances in understanding and emerging themes within biotechnology. Shorter news-style Research Focus articles are also occasionally included.
Topics covered include:
• Environmental biotechnology
• Nanobiotechnology
• Analytical biotechnology
• Plant biotechnology
• Food biotechnology
• Energy biotechnology
• Protein technologies
• Tissue and cell engineering
• Systems biology
• Science policy and regulations
• Pharmaceutical biotechnology
• Chemical biotechnology
