Turangzai

Turangzai is a village located in east of peshawar at a distance of about 32 kms. It has got a population of approximatly 30000 people. It is one of the eight villages of area called HASHNAGHAR in Charsadda. Personalities like Haji Sahib Turangzai and Alama Shams ul Haq Afghani were born in the village in 20th century. Village is home to a Higher Secondary School for boys and High School for girls. Beside there are schools for middle education for both boys and girls. The village doesnt have any written history about its origin but as like most of Charsadda, Muhammad Zai pathans are the inhabitants of the village. It is said that three villages were made in the name of the sons (Utman, Turang and Umar) of a lord of early days named Utmanzai, Turangzai and Umarzai.
Haji Sahib Turangzai led a successful Jihad against the British Imperialists from the area presently known as the Mohmand Tribal Area(Mohmand Agency).
