Turnberry (golf course)

Turnberry is a golf resort on the Atlantic Coast of Scotland. It is located in South Ayrshire. It is a commercial operation which is open to the public and its current official name is "The Westin Turnberry Resort".
There are three golf courses:
- The Ailsa Course, which has staged The Open Championship three times. The winner in 1994 was Nick Price, 1986 Greg Norman and in 1977 Tom Watson won a famous Open Championship duel against Jack Nicklaus. The course is next scheduled to host the Open in 2009.[1]
- The Kintyre Course: eighteen holes.
- The Arran Course: nine holes.
Turnberry also features "The Colin Montgomerie Links Golf Academy", a 5 star hotel dating from 1906, lodge and cottage accommodation, and the usual facilities of an upmarket country club style resort.
