Type 89 torpedo

The Type 89 torpedo (formerly GRX-2) is a Japanese submarine launched homing torpedo produced by Mitsubishi heavy industries. It was developed in the early 1980s, and is similar in capabilities to the U.S. Mark 48 ADCAP torpedo. It entered service in the 1990s and is carried aboard the Yuushio, Harushio, and Oyashio class submarines. It is wire guided using active or passive homing or can be remotely guided.
