Typer Shark
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Typer Shark is a typing game by PopCap Games. There are two versions of the game. They are both available at [1] The advanced version is available for purchase, or a free 60 minute trial. The basic edition is available for free play at the site. The game follows a diver who is searching through wrecks at the bottom of the sea to look for treasure. As he descends to the sea floor, waves of sharks or piranha will appear. The player must type the word on the side of the shark to zap it. As the game progresses, more types of sharks will appear. Upon reaching the bottom of the sea, the diver will find a sunken ship with treasure inside it. A "bonus round" will then start in which the player must type certain words within a set time limit. Other features of the game include a shark zapper, which will destroy all the fish on the screen, and cumulative bonuses for perfect typing.
[edit] Enemies
Here are the fish in the order in which they appear:
- Blue Shark: Normal sharks with one word each.
- Piranha: These come in larger swarms, but each pirahna has only one letter.
- Hammerhead Shark (Gray): You must type two words to get rid of these. (Only one word appears at a time.)
- White Piranha: The characters on these can also be numbers and punctuation.
- Tiger Shark (Red): You must type three words to clear these.
- Red Pirahna: You must type two letters each.
- Purple Sharks: Letters are shown rotated or flipped.
- Toxic Sharks: These sharks are green; letters originally form a word, but then scramble randomly.
- Ghost Sharks: Letters are not visible until it is about half way through the screen.
In the advanced game, there are also "Bosses", which are large submarines, mechanical fish, robotic squid, or "ghost ships". These launch torpedoes which have words on the sides. You must type the words before they reach you. If you do, the torpedo will turn back against the boss, and eventually destroy them.
Any of these can be stealth fish. On stealth fish, the letter or word that is typed to zap them is dark (but still faintly visible) until they are part of the way across the screen.
The object of this game is to "level up" until you reach the highest level, which is "Master of Typer Shark", and is achieved at 5,000,000 points. Afterwards, you can keep playing, but there is no higher level, and the game eventually stops counting up your score just past 1,100,000.
