Talk:U.S. Steel
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
This page should be better organized, seperating the current company from its past history, so that it is delineated into several sections like many other Wikipedia articles are. Dsg123456789 05:01, 27 February 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Disagree with speedy deletion
I see no reason for speedy deletion. The article could be fleshed out and reorganized, but, as far as I can tell, the information is accurate and US Steel is certainly historically important.
[edit] Needs a little more
This is my first time mentioning something on wikipedia, so I won't alter the article itself. I think that something should be added about US Steel's involvement in the coal industry. It was, at one time, one of the largest producers of high-sulfur coal in Southern West Virginia. It had horrible relations with its unions, and its departure has devastated WV's economy. There are towns (Gary, WV for example) that USS left without dismantling any plant equipment, so coal belts still rise above the roads rusting. Coal is an important part of USS's history, and I think it should be included in the article.

[edit] US Steel's size?
Why is that the article says that US Steel is 9th largest by volume, while the List of Steel Producers says its 7th? I work for US Steel, and US Steel itself thinks its 6th, becuase the number one and two largest merged just recently. Also, US Steel never left Gary. They still have a plant there.
