Vedera (formerly Veda) are an indie/art rock band from Kansas City, Missouri.
Vedera was formed in 2004 by singer and guitarist/pianist Kristen May and lead guitarist Brian Little, who had previously played together in a different band for about a year. Drummer Drew Little and bassist Jason Douglas joined the band soon after the end of Brian and Kristen's previous band, Red Authentic. The band cites Joy Division, the Foo Fighters, A Perfect Circle, Björk, and Coldplay at its musical influences.
In the summer of 2004, Vedera recorded its six-song EP, This Broken City, at Black Lodge with the support of Ed Rose. In 2005, the band released an LP entitled The Weight of an Empty Room. Since the summer of 2005, Vedera has been touring at various times with dredg, mewithoutYou, Communiqué, Thrice, Mae, and Underoath. In early January of 2006, Vedera went on a 40 city tour opening for Mute Math, followed by an opening stint for Owen. In the Summer of 2006, Vedera joined a tour with Lucero and Murder By Death. After a month off, they headed back on the road for another tour with Mae and The New Amsterdams.
In early December of 2005, Vedera's label, Second Nature Recordings, announced that the band had been forced to change its name from "Veda" to avoid legal complications with another band of "a similar moniker." [1].
Kristen May and Brian Little recently married.
Currently, Vedera is creating new material for a new album due some time in 2007.

[edit] Trivia
- Members of Vedera were previous members of bands who now feature members in hardcore punk band Nervous Wreck. Bassist Jason Douglas played bass in Saved by Grace with current Nervous Wreck (and ex-Eighteen Visions, a horrible band) drummer Jason Shrout. Drummer Drew Little was a member of The Arms of Agony with Nervous Wreck guitarists Austin Turney and Joey Shrout, and Nervous Wreck's openly gay vocalist Ben Depaoli. Along with these, The Arms of Agony also included bassist Pat May, who is Vedera vocalist Kristen May's younger brother.
- Drummer Drew Little has been involved in creating electronic/techno projects such as Operation Kill and Czar. Also, he has recording songs with bands Avia and Human Machine. He is also a member of the band Waterfield, pioneers of the genre of music called Krust.
