[edit] Levels?
I just noticed that I missed level design and level designer. Should they be added or left out? I'm just concerned that they'll unbalance the template. Thoughts? — Frecklefoot | Talk 18:37, 28 September 2005 (UTC)
- I'd say leave them off the template but make sure they're referenced in the game design and game designer articles respectively. Great job on the template and thanks for putting it on the articles! Goes a long way to "unify" things. :) -- Sitearm | Talk 21:30, 28 September 2005 (UTC)
Thanks, User:Sitearm. By the way, this is what the template would look like with the two additional entries:
The Video Game Industry series | |||||||
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Activities | Jobs | Types of video games | Companies | ||||
Game design Game development Game programming Level design |
Game producer Game designer Game programmer Game artist Game tester Level designer |
Arcade game Computer game Console game Handheld game Video game |
Video game developer Video game publisher List of developers |
||||
List of video games |
It doesn't look too bad. Any more input? — Frecklefoot | Talk 14:00, 29 September 2005 (UTC)
- Over the weekend, I expanded and copyedited the Level design article quite a bit, in case that weighs in the decision. I think that level design is important, because it's a big part of game modding, and as such, is one of the areas that experienced gamers (individuals) are most likely to have some knowledge/experience/interest in (the other modding activity being "programming", which is already included). Personally, I vote for including only Level design but not Level designer, so as not to expand the template, but I'm probably a little biased at this point. --Interiot 19:43, 3 October 2005 (UTC)
Okay, so one against both and one in favor of just level design. The template looks better with just "level designer" and not level designer:
The Video Game Industry series | |||||||
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Activities | Jobs | Types of video games | Companies | ||||
Game design Game development Game programming Level design |
Game producer Game designer Game programmer Game artist Game tester |
Arcade game Computer game Console game Handheld game Video game |
Video game developer Video game publisher List of developers |
||||
List of video games |
...but we might tick off some level designers out there (personally, I don't know any, even though I've been in the industry for 10+ years). Any more votes? If I don't get any more, I'll just add "level design". — Frecklefoot | Talk 16:13, 4 October 2005 (UTC)
