[edit] Proposed merge
The article Movie Making Software contains content which properly belongs in the video editing software. "Movie making software" appears to be an idiosyncratic or slang term for "video editing software". Bwithh 22:20, 16 October 2006 (UTC)
- Support as per nom. Girolamo Savonarola 22:28, 16 October 2006 (UTC)
- It should not be merged. The two are similar but distinctly different. As an example, GEAR Video, which is listed as an example of movie making software, cannot be used to edit videos. But it can be used to make movies. Therefore, it would not fit in the video editing software category, only in the movie making software category. 24.3.182.5 13:29, 28 October 2006 (UTC)
- As far as I can tell from its article page, Gear is a DVD authoring program. That's not actually movie making, it's movie burning/disc authoring. Perhaps this article can link to Optical disc authoring software in the See Also section instead? Girolamo Savonarola 20:15, 20 October 2006 (UTC)
- The title should be "Automatic Video Editing Software" instead. Then it can become part of Video Editing Software with a new dimesion. Video Editing Can be classified as
a) Manual Video Editing (Where user has to select cut points)
b) Automatic Video Editing(Where cut points are not needed)

- Is this a citable classification scheme, or simply one that you're proposing? Girolamo Savonarola 09:06, 24 November 2006 (UTC)

- Yes. This is a recent field, with muvee being the pioneer in this area.
There is no Movie Making software in the world as of my knowledge. Alternatively we can have "Home Movie" making sofware which is nothing but "automatic video editing" software for mass users. Rapsage 05:55, 27 November 2006 (UTC)
-
- Marketing in the field aside, the term movie making is so broad (including, but not limited to screenwriting, pre-production, visual effects, etc) and the varied range of software available for each sub field so numerous (Final Cut, Movie Magic, After Effects) that to have a article about Movie Making Software that is NOT a disambiguation page or list page is a disservice to the topic. Therefore, I suggest merging the two pages under discussion and starting a Movie Making Software List. Geoffmark 18:10, 20 December 2006 (UTC)

- I Agree for a merge into "Video Editing Software", but title "Movie Making" is confusing the community and hence we are getting unnecessary traction into "Film Making".Rapsage 10:16, 9 January 2007 (UTC)
[edit] This page has been almost completely copied from another web site, unless they are the culprits.
I am inexperienced, but someone should do what needs to be done (What is that?) http://desktopvideo.about.com/od/softwarereviews/l/bl_hisw.htm Bloogle 18:34, 23 January 2007 (UTC)
