Vinson Filyaw is a 37-year-old, unemployed construction worker accused of kidnapping 14-year-old Elizabeth Shoaf, of Lugoff, South Carolina, and holding her captive in an underground bunker that he had constructed in order to elude police who were seeking to arrest him on a charge of rape his girlfriend's daughter. He was also accused of rape Elizabeth Shoaf while he held her captive only one mile from her home. His girlfriend was also arrested on charges of aiding and abetting the abduction of Ms. Shoaf.
