Volvo M46 transmission

M46 is a gearbox made by Volvo, originating from the M41 gearbox, but was modernized in 1979. It is really a M45, but with an extra gearbox on the rear-end, to make a 5th gear. The 5th gear is driven by the outgoing shaft and with help of its own outgoing shaft, it will give a reduction up to 0.797:1. The gearbox has synchro-rings on each gear forward.

- 1st: 3.71:1
- 2nd: 2.16:1
- 3rd: 1.37:1
- 4th: 1.0:1
- Overdrive: 0.8:1
Oil amount: 2,3 litres
