Wikipedia talk:Votes for deletion/Salang people
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Dear Honorable Wikipedians,
We, on behalf of the Salang people, appreciate your input, both positive and well, constructive. It is painfully clear, English is not our native tongue, but we are learning. Many comments were both astute and enlightened, some needed more reflection, although we are sure they were well meaning professionals. We have poured over volumes of Asian, Hispanic and European manuscripts and published works to compile a more thorough history before it fades from memory. We discovered an ancient language of the Salang - we are still reconstructing the language and looking for artifacts of said writing to validate our research. Forgive us for being proud in our sentiments of our ancestors. We are humbled that you spent time to comment on our draft statement. We are grateful for your devotion. Fame is a relative term, to us they are famous, no doubt your families are far more famous.
We inherited these writings from our grandfathers, long since past away. The challenge is we are reviving a long lost dialect. Most of the living Salangs now are lawyers, doctors, engineers, much like your own families no doubt. My forefathers travelled far and wide to different places to gather this information. Today there are at least seven thousand Salang spread across six continents. We are organizing into a people once again. Thanks to worthy endeveavors such as this, the story of our people can be told. Many who have been lost are now found and can join in their shared family heritage.
We thank you for the time you took to read this, both retractors and those who support us. We do hope you too get a chance to tell the story of your people and family someday.
Warmest regards and best wishes,
J. D. Salang
