VST architecture
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
VST architecture represents an overall strategic way of looking at Virtual Studio Technology systems from a design engineering perspective. As many schemas exist and are planned as there are composers, artists, musicians and others who may be interested in the technology.
Two major divisions are perceptible when considering the Architecture of VST systems: The I/O approach and the Software approach. In addition to these approaches to attacking the problems and addressing the challenges, are the motivations for developing and using such technology: Making Music and/or Art, Making Money or simply engaging in Innovation for its own sake. As with any technology, these factors play a major role in determining the parameters and structure of the resultant system architecture employed.
