W. L. "Pete" Nininger

W. L. "Pete" Nininger (b. April 23, 1925 - d. October 11, 2006) was the head of Bristol Broadcasting Company for the last half of the twentieth century. After returning from duty as a Flight Instructor with the U.S. Army Air Corp during World War II, Nininger became General Manager of Bristol, Virginia, radio station WFHG. Over the course of the next five decades, Nininger acquired additional stations in Virginia, West Virginia, Kentucky, Indiana, Illinois, and Tennessee. At the time of his death in 2006, his company owned 21 radio stations.
Nininger was a long time American Saddle Bred Horseman. He was a member and former chairman of the Virginia Highlands Airport Commission.
