Wahroonga public school
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Wahroonga Public School was opened in 1944 when application for an observatory (relocated to Mt. Stromlo in Canberra) was rejected after parental argument for the need of a school in the area. When the school first opened, it had 26 students, and one teacher/principal.
Over the years, Wahroonga Public School gained many more pupils, increasing to over 700 students in the mid 1990's. The number has dropped to just above 700 students for the "naughties". Former Principal Jenny Ryan took the position in 1997 and eventually left the school in 2003 to take up the position at another school. The current principal is Graham Hill.
The school is well known for it's bands. It has five bands: Beginner Band, Intermediate Band 1, Intermediate Band 2, Concert Band and the Stage Band. Each year the bands win prizes at various competitions.
